Beads, Fabric, and Silhouettes: Generational Synergy.


In spring 2025, Christiansted's Cane Roots Art Gallery proudly celebrated St. Croix’s rich and vibrant legacy through its captivating exhibit, “Beads, Fabric, and Silhouettes: Generational Synergy.” The show ran from April 17 through May 16, the exhibit showcased the exceptional works of featured artists Elisa McKay and Pedra Chaffers, inviting visitors to explore the deeply personal and cultural themes that define their art.

Founded by the passionate Sonia Nahar Deane, Cane Roots Art Gallery in downtown Christiansted is devoted to celebrating the talents of local artists, revered elders, and visionary leaders. The gallery’s mission is to preserve and evolve St. Croix’s cherished traditions, inspiring a strong sense of community pride and encouraging future generations to carry forward their cultural heritage with creativity and pride. “Beads, Fabric, and Silhouettes: Generational Synergy,” Cane Roots continues to honor St. Croix’s dynamic story and artistic spirit.
